Cyndy Hennig Hanks grew up in Indian Falls, New York, where she rode the Boulder Park carrousel as a child. She has been a professional writer and consultant for nearly 20 years and editor of the National Carousel Association's quarterly membership magazine, Merry-Go-Roundup, for more than a decade.

She is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and holds active memberships in the National Carousel Association, the National Amusement Park Historical Association, the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum in North Tonawanda, New York, the Pembroke Historical Association in Genesee County, New York, and the George Eastman House and Eastman House Council in Rochester, New York.
